Position: Millwright  

Term: Full Time
Location: Acton, Ontario 
Start Date:  April, 2024

 

Overview:

The Millwright is mindful of efficiency, up-time, and customer service, who makes part of the regional maintenance team and supports the operations team by performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities, and project work for the Dufferin Aggregates

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain equipment in proper operating condition through preventative and corrective maintenance and providing support during breakdowns.
  • Responsible for project work (process and/or continuous improvement, reliability) and part of the annual shut-down team responsible for overhauls
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance (repair, overhaul, install, replace) of Dufferin Aggregates production equipment: belt conveyors, screw conveyors, dust collectors, pumps, pneumatic gates and actuators, compressors, boilers & water heaters, and similar equipment
  • Welding, cutting, brazing using different techniques and with different metals.
  • Hoisting and Rigging knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic components and systems.
  • Basic understanding and troubleshooting knowledge of pumps, fans, blowers, compressors.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, diagrams, schematics, work procedures.
  • Knowledge of transmission systems from motors to gearboxes, sheaves/pulleys, shafts, bearings
  • Removal of outdated and unused equipment as assigned. 
  • Report any deficiencies to the supervisor. 
  • Housekeeping duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Industrial Millwright license
  • Completed Millwright Apprenticeship
  • Ability to obtain structural Welding certificate. 
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery,
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Install, remove, troubleshoot, and repair bucket elevator and conveyor systems.
  • Bearing lubrication, application, removal, and installation processes
  • Work from service manuals 
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and identify problems with gear drives.  
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and identify problems with Hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Identify, select, and inspect proper rigging techniques.
  • Ability to work outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions. Some instances of working at heights. 
  • Ability to work indoors in varied conditions through out the year and in confined spaces (ie. Hot, Noisy, Dusty) 
  • Physical abilities to lift upwards of 50lbs on a consistence basis.
