CRH Americas, Inc. is seeking an additional intellectual property (“IP”) attorney to join its collaborative legal department. In this hands-on role, you will report to a Deputy General Counsel to assist the operating companies with a wide variety of IP matters, such as copyrights, trade secrets, patents, and trademarks. As a result, this role requires knowledge of copyright, contract, trademark, trade secrets, and patent law.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

  • Partner with the Company’s operating companies to provide legal advice in IP matters.

  • Assist the Transactions Teams with IP due diligence and integration.

  • Draft and review various IP agreements, including nondisclosure and licensing agreements.

  • Providing IP training to operating companies.

  • Supervise IP litigation on enforcement and defensive matters, including discovery.

  • Performing, analyzing, and reporting on patent and trademark clearance reviews and patentability searches.

  • Assess, review, and report on IP infringement risks.

  • Prepare and file trademark documents, including applications and renewals.

  • Manage patent maintenance fee and annuity process.

  • Configure, maintain, and provide training on the Anaqua intellectual property management system.

  • Coordinate with IP counsel to secure timely execution and filing of various IP documents.

  • Keep informed of current IP laws, regulations, and proposals.

  • Enable CRH's sustainability roadmap by delivering legal services to the Innovation function.

  • Prepare regular status reports regarding IP claims, training, and initiatives.

  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the Company.

  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

  • License to practice law in at least one state.

  • Admission to the Patent Bar (or plans to gain admission soon) preferred

  • At least three years of practicing IP law or related experience.

  • General knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing IP.

  • Working knowledge of Westlaw, Anaqua, Patsnap, or similar platforms and applications.

  • Must have expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Strict adherence to the safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties.

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

  • Must be highly ethical and able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
