Dufferin Construction is accepting applications for the position of Asphalt Plant Employee for its west & southwest asphalt plants.

 

Need to travel to various locations when needed such as Simcoe, Hamilton, Cambridge, Oakville and occasionally London, Ontario.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Asphalt Plant Employee include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the plant foremen with daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
  • Operate heavy equipment included but not limited to front-end loaders, Skid Steer and Water & Dump Trucks
  • Ability/willingness to learn and operate the plant controls to produce hot-mix asphalt based on production/quality specifications
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers by addressing issues, questions, or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ability to detect and prevent potential safety hazards as well as any equipment/component malfunctions
  • Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs. This includes but not limited to working at heights & confined space (training will be provided if necessary)
  • Comply and enforce company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies as well as company’s Code of Business Conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the plant foreman

 

What Makes a Successful Candidate?

  • Experience working in an asphalt plant or equivalent environment
  • High school or college diploma in a related discipline
  • Flexibility to work for extended periods of time/rotating shifts including nights, holidays & weekends
  • Have mechanical knowledge and experience in general plant maintenance
  • Valid G class driver's license with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent planning, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Computer knowledge with the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
  • Welding and Oxy/acetylene torch experience is an asset
  • Ability to travel to other cities may be required time to time based on production needs
