Position Overview

This position is an essential function of the ongoing viability of the Company’s operations.  The position shall aid the Capex and Environmental Compliance Manager in ensuring that all operational sites are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements as well as identifying and mitigating any potential risks.  The individual will interact with union operators, operations management, LOB leaders, consultants, and regulatory agencies.  The position will report to the Capex and Environmental Compliance Manager.  The position will need to be self-motivated and work essentially unsupervised the majority of each working day.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

(Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Lead and uphold TNY values
  • Reinforce and lead by example on TNY safety culture
  • Promote and enforce TNY and CRH Safety Practices
  • Safety Incident reviews/investigations
  • Identify and implement ways to reduce the company’s risk and exposure to environmental compliance issues.
  • Maintain organization and completion of all applicable inspections, testing, and reporting to ensure accurate and timely completion
  • Assist in the oversight and successful mitigation of any and all regulatory non-compliance events
  • Assist in the monthly environmental inspections/audits/testing at each operation
    • Report findings of environmental inspections to management personnel
    • Make recommendations for solutions to any issues present
    • Follow up to ensure compliance
  • Assist in project supervision
  • Implement environmental educational programs for training
  • Work with multiple lines of business and teams.  Provide job support, progress & performance information to project/site supervisors. 
  • Includes daytime, plus evening and weekend work and phone calls from time to time.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • General office duties
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

Required

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 3 years+ of practical work experience
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and Outlook.

 

 

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.E.) from four year college or university, Engineering preferred
  • Internship or Co-Op in environmental engineering, land management, project management, or regulatory field
  • Understanding of environmental regulations
  • Industry experience

 

Work Requirements

  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Work overtime and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises. This may include occasional weekend hours
  • Ability to travel to various job sites several times a week
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks & Hearing Protection.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, the general public, and regulatory authorities at all times.

  • Must be able to work effectively with a wide range of operation managers and union laborers
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and reports
  • Ability to read, analyze, and apply federal, state, and local statutes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the legal and regulatory community.
  • Ability to write reports and respond to inquiries from parties within the internal and external environments.
  • Must be able to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

This job will require both office work and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
