Position: Scale Operator 

Term: Full Time
Location: Acton, Ontario 
Start Date:  April, 2024

 

Overview:

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Dispatch & Customer Service, the candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all customers and vendors.  Dispatchers are required to work closely with the Sales, Quality Control, Logistics and Production teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner.  We are looking for a candidate who can work well in a fast paced environment, pays close attention to details, and demonstrates high energy with an enthusiastic approach to learning

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receive customer orders via phone & email.
  • Order entry into our operating system (Command)
  • Dispatch - Tare and ticket vendor vehicles
  • Monitoring of on-time delivery
  • Maintain radio communication with loader operators and quality assurance regarding material piles, location and “time in yard”
  • Receive general inquiries and when required redirect in a courteous manner to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain COD plant tracking sheet
  • Retain ticket audit logs and forward signed deliveries into third party for scanning
  • Execute daily audits to ensure billing accuracy
  • Ensure safety requirements are followed (PPE) and violations are reported
  • Remotely operate other DFA locations where a Dispatcher is not present
  • Travel to various sites to cover for other Dispatchers when required
  • Customer Service Centre admin support

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Post-Secondary education or equivalent business related experience 
  • Prior Dispatch or customer service experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Basic knowledge of the aggregate process, market geography, and product applications
  • Proficient with computer based technology including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Google Earth and web based service
  • Foster a sense of collaboration and work effectively across organization to achieve goals
  • Adapts and learns – work effectively in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities and rapid change while actively developing ones skills and capabilities
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with internal and external client
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving – Effectively examine events, issues and problems and generate optimal solutions in a timely manner
  • Must be able to work in a high stressed, fast paced environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organization skills & Strong interpersonal skills
