POSITION OVERVIEW

Tilcon Connecticut Inc. is seeking an experienced project manager for major capex projects at our Connecticut aggregate locations. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of projects from concept through to commissioning. The project manager will be expected to set deadlines, write project scopes, basis of design, request for quotation, develop work breakdown structures, assign responsibilities, monitor execution, and provide status updates on a frequent basis to company management as well as regional teams. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of projects, including: budget, schedules, milestones, deadlines, contracts, execution and work quality in collaboration with all stakeholders
  • Responsible for safety and environmental compliance of all work involved in capex projects
  • Adhere to all CRH, MSHA, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times
  • Wear proper safety equipment while at plant sites
  • Ensure all subcontractors adhere to CRH, MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations
  • Set deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors execution, and summarizes progress of project.
  • Develop a thorough document control process (cost management, engineering drawings, etc.).
  • Maintain timely, clear and open communication with all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with AMAT National performance committees and regional project manager for duration of all projects
  • Regular field presence for supervision of all stages of projects
  • Ensure all project plans are in compliance with company sustainability goals
  • Adopt process for managing capital risk such as: change in scope, material delays, safety or quality concerns, change orders, etc.
  • Adopt process for tracking and documented lessons learned for the purpose of improving future performance
  • Promote use of latest technology to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions
  • Utilize demonstrated best industry practices, techniques and standards throughout project execution
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.E.) or equivalent experience
  • Engineer or Project Management Professional preferred, but not required
  • 5 years’ experience in plant and or project management.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Experience creating, working within and/or administering an assigned budget.
  • High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
  • Strong work ethic and high standards for safety in the workplace.
  • Strong ability to gain trust and create alignment across the organization to help drive project execution.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and facilitate change

 

Requirements 

  • Knowledge and understanding of functional areas within the company.

  • Knowledge of advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software. 
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and associated calculations.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and exemplary oral/written communication skills.
  • Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.

  • Moderate travel required; must be willing to work in or travel to other locations as needed.
  • Must be available as needed during non-traditional work hours.
  • Must be able to work independently and with groups.
  • Must be able to work under time constraints as needed.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

 

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies.  Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position:  Hardhat, safety glasses, face shield, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, respirator, air monitor, reflective safety vest, and hearing protection.
