Position Overview

The Diesel Tech Intern will gain hands-on experience and develop their skills under the guidance of an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Mentor with the possibility of becoming a Diesel Mechanic with us upon graduation!

Key Resposibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Under the supervision and guidance of an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Mentor, assist in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• Assist in performing preventative maintenance.
• Assist in performing electrical and hydraulic repairs.
• Perform basic service tasks and related work as assigned.
• Comply with all safety measures and handle company tools and equipment properly.
• Complete all tasks efficiently and maintain a neat and orderly work area.

Education/Experience

• Current full-time college student pursuing Diesel Technology Degree program
• Must be attending an accredited college/university.

Work Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to determine the cause of issues and necessary actions.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with drivers, operations, and maintenance personnel.

Physical Requirements

• Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
• Regularly able to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Able to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
• Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp or manipulate switches and controls.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways, and access elevated platforms.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
