$25/hr based on experience

Position Overview

Receives and schedules customer orders while providing quality customer service. Monitors the status of drivers in completing assigned deliveries. 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Receives customer orders and enters order information into dispatch computer system.  Revises and updates orders as needed.
• Schedules drivers and dispatches ready-mix trucks in a timely and efficient manner  to provide customer service and promote customer satisfaction.
• Responds to customer inquiries and complaints concerning the status of orders and related issues as appropriate.  Keeps management informed of specific customer problems and concerns.
• Observes the flow of business on dispatch monitors and notifies customers when requested delivery times cannot be met.  Reschedules deliveries or specifies the time of delay as appropriate.
• Contacts customers regarding details for specific orders and to stimulate new orders, particularly from regular customers who have not placed orders recently.
• Collaborates with sales, quality control and operations personnel regarding general business conditions and specific customer orders.
• Generates and reviews daily yardage reports and informs management of problems or potential problem areas.
• Calculates and ensures accuracy of all drivers time on a daily basis.  Notifies Accounting Department of daily time information in a timely manner.
• Coordinates orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels of cement, fly ash, rock, sand, and/or other admixtures at all plant locations to ensure availability. Coordinates material orders with other operations personnel as appropriate.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Dependable and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

• High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years experience in ready-mix dispatching and/or taking customer orders and providing customer service preferred.

Work Requirements

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• General knowledge of concrete and related industry practices.  Skill in performing basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to assist customers in calculating the amount of concrete needed.  Attention to details, communication, coordination, organization and decision making skills needed.  Ability to accurately and effectively use the computer monitoring system.  Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment, and to react resourcefully under varying conditions.  Ability to work during evenings and on weekends as assigned.
