Job Title: Electronics Engineer

Location: Stirling or Clevedon office (Depending upon candidate location)

Type of Employment: Full time, Permanent. Hybrid.

Hours: 37.5 hours

 

Responsible for:

We are seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to join Hydro’s Product Development team and support the development of our telemetry products.

 

Must have:

  • This role is well-suited for a Graduate Engineer, preferably with a minimum of two years of experience in the electronics sector, yet candidates with extensive experience are also welcome to apply.
  • The applicant should be eligible to work in the UK
  • Ideally have a driving license

 

Duties required from the role are: -

  • Be involved in the development of new electronics projects
  • On some occasions be required to project manage
  • Produce design documentation including manuals
  • Effect required processes including FMEA, ECNs and lab test reports
  • Produce and maintain product design data such as schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings and Gerber files
  • Perform minor changes and modifications to electronics products when needed (both hardware, firmware, and software)
  • Support the Operations team where necessary, including help with support cases from the field
  • Occasional travel to the office in Stirling, Scotland, as well as field site and supplier visits

 

Skills required for the role are: -

  • Knowledge of electronics design (mainly digital but also some analogue)
  • Schematic capture (preferably using Autodesk Eagle)
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware in C (preferably using IAR Workbench)

 

Software: -

  • Microsoft suite
  • Embedded C, preferably with IAR Workbench experience.
  • Experience with ARM processors and Nordic chipsets.
  • Schematic and layout design ideally using Autodesk Eagle and Fusion 360.

 

Industry: -

Working within the embedded electronics industry

 

Other desirable skills: -

  • Knowledge of SDI-12 and 4 to 20 mA communications
  • GSM GPRS and NB-IoT experience
  • Previous experience with low power battery operated remote systems
