Primary Function

 

The CNC Programmer is responsible for the creation, setup, troubleshooting and organization of all CNC machine programs.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create efficient and defect free CNC programs using fabrication drawings specifically for Mecal 5 axis CNC machines
  • Update Fabrication Supervisor and follow production floor scheduling, Meet/Plan with Engineering scheduling group on ongoing basis
  • Catalog/Organize all programs/set-up sheets in main server
  • Assign program numbers and record on traveler and set-up sheet
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality paperwork
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, milling, and cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Order special tools required
  • Assist shop employees in machine operation, PM and troubleshoot on shop floor
  • Maintains machine performance by adhering to OBE maintenance best practices and procedures
  • Work with other departments to resolve drawing and Bill of Material issues
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Understanding of all manufacturing and engineering processes and procedures, applicable to areas of responsibility
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job

 

Qualifications

 

  • Working knowledge of CNC Programming
  •  Microsoft Inventor, Pumasoft, Mecal and Elusoft experience preferred, but not required
  • Good computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.  Ability to learn and adapt to computer programs
  • Working knowledge of reading and interpreting fabrication drawings
  • Organized, self starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, multitask and prioritize workload with minimal supervision
  • The ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees at all levels
  • Machining experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • CAD/CAM experience a plus
  • Ability to read, write and fully understand machine “G” code a plus
