Job Summary


Drive value added procurement initiatives and savings within Oldcastle APG.  Support CRH category management teams in connecting procurement efforts to local operating companies in the Logistics & Mobile Equipment categories. The Category Manager participates in all relevant commercial discussions with suppliers related to specific products/projects assigned; owns and drives regular business review meetings with suppliers; drives multiple source tenders and provides price provisioning on product level during budgeting / business case phase. 


  • Managing assigned categories within APG and through participation in cross-functional and cross-regional teams
  • Translating category and supplier strategies into executable sourcing plans and strategies based on actual portfolio demands and business needs
  • Acting as an escalation for claims not solved locally
  • Driving data-backed procurement objectives into the business
  • Ensuring cost, supply availability, innovation, and quality within the sourcing plan creation and execution while driving for savings and improved efficiencies.
  • Executing supplier selection in line with strategy, requirements and supplier base development - and identification of new suppliers
  • Ensuring efficient tendering process from selection through onboarding according to the agreed strategies
  • Leading price negotiations, contract, and life cycle management with suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement process, SOX and other statutory requirements within own category
  • Ensuring compliance to supplier portfolio within own categories/ operating company
  • Evaluates contracts and suppliers to facilitate final supplier base decisions with relevant stakeholders
  • Liaising with Global/Regional Category Managers to address changes based on supply market dynamics
  • Managing supplier performance accountability for agreed KPIs (internal and external) and reporting
  • Developing and managing relationships with key suppliers in the categories
  • Ensuring integrity of APG procurement system data




  • Degree in Business or Technical field, a Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
  • The position will require intermittent travel across N. America – at times exceeding 30%
  • Operations experience within a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • 3+ years of Procurement experience
  • 5+ years of transportation/logistics/supply chain experience preferred
  • Experience in managing LTL/FTL, rail, ocean, air, parcel, and 3rd party haulers highly preferred
  • Recent Regional/Category management experience in a large complex multi-country organization
