Position Overview


The IT Security Manager - Operations is responsible for the development, management and coordination of Oldcastle’s IT Security Operations Program providing expertise for:


  • Assessment, development and implementation of security operations processes and procedures.

  • Detection, Prevention and Response activities

  • Security Tools Management and Optimization

  • Managed Services Contract and Performance Oversight

  • Vulnerability and Penetration Testing Management

  • Global staff management – assigned and matrixed


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership (35%)

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the IT SecOps function and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

  • Recommend and implement programmatic and technical directions and operate with a high degree of independence in matters relating to IT SecOps policies/procedures, and decisions regarding daily security operations.

  • Provide guidance and coaching to staff and direct work plans.

  • Lead vendor service performance evaluations and contract negotiations

  • Operate with a high degree of independence with regard to project management activities:

    • Lead project scoping and timelines activities

    • Lead development of project plans and budget/resource estimates

    • Establish project governance and lead steering committees and project teams

    • Monitors project quality and execution


Security Operations (40%)

  • Detection & Monitoring: collects and stores logs, detects intrusions, identifies potential areas of security improvement or vulnerabilities, and engages in threat hunting across our enterprise and product

  • Enterprise Security: defines security profiles for common enterprise assets, including laptops, servers, and SaaS services

  • Analysis & Response: collects and analyzes threat intelligence to prepare the rest of our security team against emerging threats and to optimally respond to security incidents

  • Develop and implement a long term roadmap for security operations

  • Review and refine existing key security processes including threat hunting, vulnerability management, log ingestion, security monitoring, threat analysis, and security incident response lifecycle

  • Brief leadership on emerging security threats and develop proposals on how to address these threats through building security controls and processes

  • Lead and coordinate follow-the-sun, 7x24x365 global operations

  • Engage with partners in the industry, law enforcement, and threat intelligence vendors; and share and exchange standard methodologies with our parent and sister companies

  • Develop, integrate and adopt existing or new security technologies and processes in the areas of Vulnerability Management, Intrusion Detection/Prevention, Endpoint Protection, Network Security, Operational Technology and IOT Security, and Application Security


Outreach/Awareness (25%)

  • Interacts in both oral and written communications with all levels of staff and vendors

  • Ensure employees and staff are aware of security trends, tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct trainings and assessment to improve employee awareness and build a security mindset culture




  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Professional Information Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH) or the ability to obtain a certificate within the first year of employment

  • 7+ years of advanced IT skills with specific information security experience and expertise

  • 3+ years of planning and managing IT projects

  • 3+ years of experience managing small staff

  • Experience with IT and information security frameworks and compliance practices.

  • Experience documenting, tracking and reporting IT Security Incidents

  • Ability to develop IT and Information security standards and guidelines based on best practices and industry standards

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including formal report writing experience

  • Understanding of and experience with common security standards and regulations (e.g. ISO2700x, NIST, PCI-DSS, GDPR, SoX etc.)

  • Detailed oriented
