Job Summary

 

The Inventory Accountant will be one of three roles that report directly into the Inventory Accounting Manager for the Local Solutions business unit.  This team will own the full end to end accounting and controls process related to inventory movements within Local Solutions.  This role and this team will be critical in creating and maintaining best practices in inventory management and documentation.

 

Job Responsibilities

Inventory Control

  • Coordinate the inventory cycle count cadences for raw materials, work in process, produced finished goods, and purchased finished goods for the plants within the areas/regions of responsibility.
  • Partner with plant operations to perform cycle counts, reconcile counts to the general ledger balance, and post differences to the ledger.  Partner with the Finance Business Partners to understand count deltas prior to posting larger variances.
  • Manage the accounting related to excess and obsolete inventory, including calculating and maintain reserve rates, and partnering with operations teams to take action on slow or non-moving stock items.
  • Coordinate the annual full physical inventory processes (Q4) for all plants within the areas/regions of responsibility, partnering with finance and accounting leads in each area to ensure coverage and support is provided.
  • Partner with the FP&A and Finance Business Partnering teams to provide reports and updates related to key performance indicators (KPIs) regarding inventory.
  • Actively participate in initial inventory set up for M&A locations, including initial balance, obsolete considerations, etc.
  • Actively monitor and coordinate necessary inventory transactions related to specially produced inventory.
  • Research, analyze, and reconcile intercompany inventory movements.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve issues with inventory balances, movements, backflushing, etc.

 

Month End Close Activities

  • Prepare and submit Balance Sheet reconciliations related to all inventory accounts for the plants within the areas/regions of responsibility.
  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries related to inventory transactions for the plants within the areas/regions of responsibility.
  • Review month-end balance sheet accounts and P&L variance accounts related to inventory to ensure accurate books and records are reporting for the period.
  • Other Ad Hoc items, as needed.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Advanced degrees, CMA, CPA a plus
    • Relevant work experience could be considered in lieu of a degree for the right candidate.
  • 2+ years manufacturing finance and/or cost accounting experience required
  • Experience with complex ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, SysPro, Sage), SAP S/4 Hana preferred
  • Advanced MS Office
  • Travel – 10% or more may be required; 50%+ in Q4 to support full physical inventory requirements. 
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset, being able to identify process gaps and inefficiencies and take the lead to work with others to define and implement best practices within a network.
  • Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in accurate, complete, and timely fashion.
  • Ability to act independently as a subject matter expert with limited supervision.
  • Ability to implement ideas across a multi-plant environment
  • Ability to influence others without a direct reporting relationship.

 

Compensation

 

Compensation for this position will be between 65K and 110K BOE.
