Job Summary

 

The Operational Excellence Analyst will be a key resource in developing and maintaining operational analyses, models, dashboards and reports to drive organizational decision making and performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory and reliability.  This position will support and collaborate cross-functionally and across business units to develop solutions to digitize and measure existing and new metrics to measures, assess and inform operational improvement opportunities, prioritizing enterprise alignment and scalable solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Analysis and Tools Development

 

  • Perform detailed analyses of operational and financial measures to assess operational performance, considering and highlighting impacts of core/non-core product mix, machinery and factory utilization, labor and materials efficiency, and other relevant inputs.
  • Present analyses and recommend courses of action to address improvement opportunities to relevant operations leadership.
  • Analyze relative plant performance within like-for-like benchmark classifications to identify opportunities to highlight and share outperformance, and the drivers thereof, and diagnose underperformance.
  • Design, build, deploy, maintain, and enhance business intelligence (BI) and analytical solutions that align to strategic operational business initiatives.
  • Develop standardized analyses, models and frameworks to assess plant capacity and manufacturing footprint optimization opportunities.
  • Develop standardized analyses, models and frameworks to aid in selection of capital equipment and evaluate automation opportunities.
  • Participate and present during project reviews; communicate status and highlight issues that impact project timelines.
  • Establish measurements to guarantee fulfillment of targets and deadlines. 

 

Tools Maintenance and Training

 

  • Lead the training of Operations teams in the utilization and application of operational analyses, models, dashboards and reports.
  • Monitor deployed solutions for performance issues, and operational stability.
  • Create and update technical documentation and other related knowledge base articles.

 

Operational Excellence Support

 

  • As improvement initiatives dictate, aid in development and improvement of processes, quality and procedures in operations to reduce costs, and improve productivity and throughout by using Lean Manufacturing Principles such as 5S, Poke-Yoke (mistake proofing), and Kaizen.
  • As needed, assist in draft and design of the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
  • Aid in the Improvement of operations efficiency through time study, standard data development, standard times methods.

 

Data Standardization

 

  • Research and provide recommendations for ways to improve standardization and utilization of data to impact operational performance.
  • Collaborate with the business on improving the overall data environment as it relates to analytics.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical field or at least 10 years of experience in a Plant/Process Engineering role in an industrial setting.
  • Experience sourcing, organizing, analyzing and validating data from databases/data warehouse applications (Snowflake), ERP systems (Microsoft AX), business intelligence platforms (Tableau) and Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Experience with production assembly processes, materials management and manufacturing operating systems.
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment and with continuous improvement projects.
  • Experience with IoT data curation, normalization, and visualization.
