Job Summary
The Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) is seeking a Plant Electrical Design Specialist to support the Production Support Team for its North American Masonry and Hardscape Division. The Plant Electrical Design Specialist shall provide training and support for APG facilities as the Subject Matter Expert in the electrical challenges faced by our production facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with national and local teams as needed on capital projects
- Review project proposals
- Review timelines and build Gantt charts
- Identify equipment and connections points for electricians
- Build equipment controls IO list for electrical contractors to quote the projects prior vendor drawings being completed
- Build 480V connection point drawing for contractors to quote projects
- Build 480V load diversity calculations for proper sizing of plant transformer and switchgear
- Troubleshoot and help with commissioning of new equipment
- Develop electrical specifications for both small equipment replacement projects to large scale new plant construction.
- Assist and train local maintenance teams at plants throughout United States and Canada
- Troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
- Supervise, review, and assist as needed for manufacturing equipment electrical upgrades and layout changes
- Conduct arc flash & electrical troubleshooting training classes for all levels of our Operations team
- Demonstrate appropriate public speaking and communication skills
- Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements
- 5+ years direct experience in the manufacturing industry strongly preferred
- Associate degree or technical college degree/certificate preferred
- Master’s Electrician’s License or 7 years of similar work experience preferred
- Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project
- Experience working with equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting (mechanical & electrical)
- Identify basic principles of electricity, Ohm's Law, Equipment Testing, Electrical Safety
- Basic knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E standards
- Able to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills
- Teach and coach the three hazards of electricity - shock, arc, and blast
- Expert knowledge on the following:
- 480-volt systems
- Full understanding of electric motors & light curtains
- Photo eyes
- Proximity switches
- Motor starters
- Relay contactors
- Must be a safety champion
- Must have excellent people skills so the above can be coached and trained
- Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
- Ability to travel up to 70% at times (2-5 days a week)
