Job Summary


The Structural Engineer provides high quality engineering and design services to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations and drive innovation and efficiencies within the Stormwater business unit.


  • The Oldcastle Stormwater business unit is currently looking for a licensed engineer (EIT/PE) with minimum of 1-3+ years minimum of structural design experience to support the Stormwater team in its design and development of its proprietary, precast concrete Stormwater products.
  • This position will also play an active role in the engineering team’s support of the business unit and broader company’s aggressive growth plan. 
  • The engineer will work with the engineering team in its support of customers across the country. Travel is flexible and very limited (< 5%) dependent on location. The successful candidate will work from home most days but will have requirements to be in the Atlanta office periodically for team building and career development purposes.
  • The Stormwater Structural Engineers work with internal and external clients to ensure that project solutions consider and meet the stormwater and treatment requirements and the various engineering requirements.  They also develop the structural components of new products and proactively support the field sales team to establish and build civil engineering customer relationships and meet the commercial objectives of the company.
  • The overall Oldcastle Stormwater team works with engineers, owners, contractors, and government agencies to help them meet their stormwater management objectives. Oldcastle Stormwater is a team of experienced stormwater specialists developing new products and individual solutions to meet evolving stormwater regulations intended to protect the environment.  The company offers a complete line of stormwater treatment, detention/retention, and infiltration systems.  These systems are manufactured by Oldcastle Infrastructure concrete plants in over 50 locations throughout the United States.  From the start of construction to the completion of any project, Oldcastle Stormwater offers a turn-key approach to meet each client’s stormwater management needs.


Job Responsibilities


  • Present project-specific solutions to civil engineering customers.
  • Provide high-quality design calculations, basic illustrations, and advice to integrate and secure Oldcastle products on site plans.
  • Respond to civil engineering clients on project-specific inquiries and product structural requirements.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with civil engineer customers.
  • Support field and internal team members to achieve team goals.
  • Assist sales team during the project bid phase by providing design review and confirming appropriate product design.
  • Assist Engineering team in process and design automation efforts
  • Coordinate with production facility operational teams to ensure better manufacturing alignment
  • Provide project and technical support for submittal drawings and product delivery.
  • Develop, review, and release internal production/shop drawings to Oldcastle precast production facilities
  • Maintain engineering standards and procedures; assist with training younger engineers and other non-engineering Stormwater team members
  • Ensure pertinent project information is accurately entered into the database.

Position Requirements


  • Degree in Civil Engineering and EIT/Professional Engineer certification.
  • 1-3+ years of experience with solid background in engineering design.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete.
  • Experience in shallow foundations.
  • FEA analysis and design of concrete structures.
  • Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation and plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.


Preferred Requirements


  • Professional Engineering License
  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge of software: AutoCAD, BIM, Microsoft Office, SAP2000 (or other FEA software), MathCAD, etc.
