Position Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the strategic category management, operational planning and procurement, and transportation initiatives for the East Region of Oldcastle Infrastructure.  The Supply Chain Manager will identify and execute against value creating opportunities for the 3 Areas in the East Region by evolving and executing a supply chain strategy that is consistent with the company’s culture, strategic business objectives and continuous improvement / cost management efforts.  As a key member of the regional team, the incumbent will work with supply chain, operational and business leaders to implement clear and cohesive strategies/processes which result in year over year improvements in the cost, quality, and services of the goods the business receives and delivers.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Lead the procurement and transportation efforts for the East Region
  • Define and implement standardized purchasing processes / systems to leverage group volume and resources
  • Identify and execute sourcing opportunities to improve financial performance at the regional and company level
  • Lead the national sourcing efforts of specific cross-regional categories as they fit into the national procurement & supply chain strategy
  • Analyze current procurement activities and identify opportunities for new and/or improved sourcing programs and purchasing processes
  • Regularly interface with regional management & plant purchasing personnel to drive engagement and adoption of processes and programs, including centralization of strategic commodity purchasing
  • Negotiate, contract and manage performance with key suppliers to ensure that all service levels are achieved and that continuous improvement efforts are implemented




  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience
  • 10+ years direct experience in the strategic sourcing / category management field
  • Experience establishing business processes, managing performance, driving organizational change
  • Operational experience in manufacturing, building materials, mining or construction sectors


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proven record of procurement and cost management across goods and services and understanding of the entire procurement cycle
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization and the ability to effectively define and manage change
  • Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • High ethical standards
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Thorough understanding of financial management and procurement’s impact on results
