Position Responsibilities: (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements)

  • Works directly with pension and benefit administrators, actuaries and auditors in support of CRH plans, programs and policies.
  • Prepares reports and communication material on benefit and pension programs.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of benefit policies and processes.
  • Resolves issues by communicating with employees, Human Resources business partners and management
  • Presents benefit and pension programs to salaried and hourly union and non-union employee groups, as required.
  • Coordinates annual benefit program activities, including the preparation of pension statements, insurance renewals, and annual open enrolment for flexible benefits programs and any changes related to benefits in the collective bargaining agreements.
  • Works with team to continually identify and implement process improvements.
  • Assists the CRH Central Services team as the subject matter expert (SME) with any pension and benefit queries or processes.
  • Responds to third-tier employee queries on pension and benefits.
  • Interacts with third-party vendors, including consultants, insurance carriers, and attorneys.
  • Works with vendors to ensure completion of annual filings and required plan testing.
  • Prepares, analyses and reports on programs to streamline cost or to assist in decision-making.
  • Assists with the annual budgeting process for all employee-related benefit expenses.
  • Works closely with Finance and Central Services to ensure the alignment of cost elements.
  • Assists with special projects and various initiatives
  • Knowledge of compensation programs and practices would be an asset.

Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise):

  • Fluently bilingual in French and English required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Benefits, with CEBS or CBP designation a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Experience with Human Resources Information System; SAP preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian pension and benefit practices, principles and regulation.
  • Experience in U.S. 401 k and benefits administration required
  • Sound knowledge of U.S. benefits and reporting
  • Previous unionized workforce experience preferred
  • Ability to educate employees on employee benefits programs.

Educational Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field preferred.
