We are seeking a Canadian Tax Technician to join our team of tax professionals, at our Concord, Ontario head office location for a one-year contract. Reporting directly to the Manager of Tax, the successful incumbent will be responsible for servicing a diverse group of Canadian companies in the manufacturing, extraction and construction industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Tax compliance and reporting projects including tax return and information return preparation;
  • Analysis, research and documentation of income tax positions and preparation of related working papers;
  • Tax advisory and business support services;
  • Tax accounting including a large fixed asset portfolio;
  • Liaising with tax authorities on various compliance matters;
  • Assessment analysis and tax payment reconciliation;
  • Special projects as assigned.

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field and minimum 1 years post- graduation experience in general accounting and/or tax.
  • Good foundational knowledge of federal and provincial corporate taxation.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and strong data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Taxprep software an asset.

Position Dimensions:

  • Background in manufacturing and/or construction environment, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English; Knowledge of French, an asset.
  • Solid organizational, analytical and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-pressure, dead-line driven environment.
  • Ability to develop interactive working relationships with internal and external contacts.
