Essential Duties

 

  • Maintain high levels of quality
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
  • Being able to fill out the proper paperwork for each job completed
  • Must be able to follow instructions and complete tasks correctly, according the National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
  • Must also be able to use basic electrician's tools including wire cutters, wire strippers, power drills, screwdrivers, conduit benders and circuit-testing equipment
  • Maintains and repairs electrical fixtures and equipment such as wiring, lighting power appliances, machinery
  • Ability to wire outlets, repair light fixtures, connect circuits and breakers, and replace fuses and fuse boxes
  • Ability to work in various forms of electrical maintenance and repairs such as machine wiring
  • Adhere to all safety policies, practices & procedures
  • Ability to be on call to help an electrician in emergency situations
  • Ability to complete paperwork legibly
  • Ability to communicate with effectively & professionally
  • Must comply with all safety standards and processes
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in close spaces
  • Must be able to read and comprehend drawings
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
  • Utilize all power tools, saws, threaders, and knockout punches
  • Dig trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
  • Operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers
  • Read and interpret instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions
  • Troubleshooting electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, motors, panels, and circuits
  • Maintaining, and repairing electrical systems such as: switch gears, motor controls, electrical panels, CT cabinets, conveyor systems, lighting, and power supplies
  • Maintaining current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations
  • Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Maintains electrical hook-ups for relocation of equipment
  • Performs visual inspections and preventative maintenance on building equipment
  • Repairs and maintains clocks, motors, and similar appliances in municipal buildings
  • Maintains an inventory of parts and equipment
  • Maintains emergency lighting systems
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required

 

Requirements/Experience

 

  • At least 3 years of construction experience
  • Journeyman Maintenance Electrician experience, at least 3 years preferred
  • Experience complying with OSHA safety requirements and regulations
  • Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to work in all types of environments including working indoors and outdoors
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
