Job Summary

The Machine Operator involves the operation of Industrial Machines. The machines are used to properly edge and polish raw glass, cut raw glass, temper raw glass and much more. The operator will track, locate, and record production on schedules provided by supervisor.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, process work orders by due dates
  • Perform equipment inspection to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition, Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance on machinery/tools
  • Calibrate each machine at required intervals
  • Loading and unloading, sort and load glass onto machine for completion following all safety policies and procedures  
  • Set up machines to have the correct fabrication specifications for glass orders
  • Use edging machine, dolly, crane, glass cup, tape measure, pliers, glass cutter, and other various tools
  • Inspect all glass for defects such as chips, bubbles, scratches, blown holes, proper edge work, etc.
  • Complete daily worksheets and forms including quality testing
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Must at least be 18 years old
  • Must have1 year of machine operator experience
  • Manual lifting requirements 75 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Read and perform calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Basic computer knowledge


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk, push, pull and reach frequently
  • Ability to grasp and squeeze small parts and large items
  • Able to walk/stand on a concrete floor for regular work shift (approx. 10-12 hrs. a day, 50 hours to 60 hours per week)
  • Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. frequently throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures consistent with same climate conditions of the region in a non-climate-controlled facility (Heat, Cold, humidity, etc.)
