Position Summary

 

Mining engineers monitor, gather, analyze and communicate operations data to assist management with new and existing mine sites to minimize risk and optimize efficient productivity and asset yield.

 

Supervision Received

 

  • Reports to Area Manager – Operations, APAC-Kansas INC, for goals, projects and performance feedback.

 

Supervision Exercised

 

  • Supervision responsibility over plant production employees would be assigned by plant supervisor as needed and by project.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Collect and analyze data for assessments of current and new sites
  • Monitor production data for budgets and other reports
  • Provide supervising staff with needed data for operational decisions
  • Ascertaining extraction risks
  • Using specialist computer applications to maximize planning and production
  • Monitor and analyze mine operation data
  • Managing construction projects
  • Monitor and assist with operations compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Keeping records
  • Monitor practices and conditions to prevent accidents
  • Monitor and maintain field data gathering equipment
  • Coordinate and assist contractors and consultants
  • Assist management with installation and planning and implementing extraction systems

 

Education

 

  • A degree in geology, mining engineering, mineral or quarry engineering, or minerals surveying is normally required for entry.

 

Experience

 

  • Experience in mining engineering, material testing, earthwork construction, dredging and/or surface mining is preferred but not required.
