Position Overview

Lead his/her team to ensure the highest levels of health and safety of our employees and environmental compliance for operations. To coordinate and oversee plant production while optimizing plant equipment, personnel, and Inventories.  This role requires industry knowledge of the asphalt manufacturing process as well as preventative maintenance and plant repairs.  This role includes monitoring plant costs, production efficiencies, daily scheduling, and management of plant leads.  Develop teamwork among all operational departments while upholding company guidelines, policies and procedures. Participates in the selection, hiring, training and development of employees.  Assist in implementation of actions to increase customer focus, cost control, production efficiencies, and plant reliability.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Ensures that all processes and equipment meet or exceed OSHA and Cadillac Asphalt Safety guidelines.  Continuously pursues a culture of Safety at all times and actively engages employees to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Establish the environment as a priority in operations management and acts as a steward to the environment and the community.  Reinforce the need to meet or exceed environmental compliance among personnel.
  • Manage all aspects of multiple asphalt plant sites including safety, environmental, maintenance, and customer service.
  • Manages R&M spend/track within limits to insure optimum plant performance and reduce downtime.
  • Work closely with QC to provide consistent quality product
  • Ensures the proper processes and tools are utilized to plan operational activities:  examples maintenance programs (i.e. preventative maintenance, winter shutdown), capital planning, process reviews, asset utilization, and inventory management. 
  • Maintains and promotes a consistent professional best in class image in all operations.  Plant /operations image includes all housekeeping, storage, equipment condition, property entrance, signage, and buildings.
  • Assist in cost control related to asphalt plants to include production, maintenance, inventory, and raw material usage.
  • Assist in the development of plant employees
  • Schedules personnel based on weekly production demands.

  • Three plus years of HMA plant management.  
  • Thorough understanding of asphalt manufacturing, maintenance, and plant management.
  • Communication skills and ability to network within the organization
  • Asphalt product and production knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications

  • Majority of the work is conducted in an office setting. May also be required to go to another division or off-site meeting.


Work Environment

  • This position will work the majority of the time in an office setting but may also on limited occasions work outdoors on a job site and in a plant. Work environment will vary depending on job task.
