Position Overview

Initial and continued training of new Agg/Asphalt & Transport Drivers including documented training records, CDL training & safety coaching.  The position will also assist with job site access, coordination, and daily deliveries. Operates truck in a safe and professional manner in the plant yard, on public highways/roads, and at various job sites to deliver products. Deliveries will be made in both commercial and residential areas.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Initial New Hire Training for driver essential duties and responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment in a safe and clean condition.

  • Performs pre- and post-trip truck and trailer inspections.

  • Drives truck to location for unloading.

  • Cleans truck after delivery to prevent buildup of materials on truck.

  • Review of driver safety scores and video events with documented coaching

  • Host scheduled safety meetings & toolbox talks.

  • Annual road tests of Agg/Asphalt & Transport Driver Fleet

  • Routine vehicle audits for required maintenance and cleanliness.

  • Electronic device training and troubleshooting.

  • Monitor route efficiencies and truck counts.

  • Keep up to date with FMCSA regulations.

  • CDL Trainer.

  • Smith Driver Trainer

  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • 1-2 years related experience is preferred.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL

  • Tanker Endorsement

  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. PPE may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be to work in constant exposure to the outside elements, in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
