PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The HR Assistant position is responsible for various duties to assist the Human Resources department including but not limited to posting job openings, STD claims, new hire reporting, and unemployment filing. This position reports directly to the HR Director.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•Responsible for completing employment verifications;•Responsible for filing Short Term Disability claims;
•Reports all new hires to the state, as well as submits E-Verify reports;
•Participate in AAP development;•Assists with any HR audits;
•Responsible for posting any job openings and tracking applicants using software;
•Facilitates all pre-employment testing, as well as new hire onboarding;
•Assists with various HR roles including job fairs, open enrollment, benefit communication, and post hire surveys;
•Follow up with the related clerical aspects of employment, such as; employment forms notifying the department of background screening, physical and drug screening results;
•Assist in recruitment efforts;
•Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures;
•Filing
•Highly effective oral and written communication skills required;
•Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.;
•Proficiency of MS Excel and Word applications required;
•Ability to analyze issues independently;
•Other duties as may be assigned.
•Ability to perform under deadline pressure;
•Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions;
•Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily;
•High school graduate supplemented by appropriate college level coursework required. Two or moreyears’ experience in human resources required. Experience with recruitment and HR administrationstrongly preferred;
•Experience in a construction environment preferred;
•Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required;
•Must be 18 years in age or older;
•Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check;
•Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
•Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
•Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Up to 30 percent travel. During the peak recruitment season it could be up to 50 percent travel;
•Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
