Purpose of the Position

The Terminal Manager is responsible for all aspects of the terminal's material operations, financial reporting, and administrative functions. The individual would direct and assign to the employees in the areas of Safety, Quality, Operations and Sales to ensure that the asphalt cement meets or exceeds MTO, Municipal and Other Agency Specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing Yellowline (YL) Asphalt Cement Terminal and Production Operations.
    • Financial accountability in ensuring that the facility operates within budget.
  • Financial reporting, preparing forecasts and managing production costs.
  • Reporting on a quarterly basis to the Yellowline board of directors (Aecon and Dufferin).
    • Plan and execute maintenance programs.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per YL Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Ensure that the facility’s ECA Permit is maintained.
  • Assist with the procurement of raw materials for production and sales.
  • Controlling and management of asphalt cement inventory.
  • Managing the testing of the materials and adhere to owner specifications.
  • Identify and become familiar with various asphalt mix specifications requirements.
  • Communicate and assist personnel in adjusting processes to conform to specifications.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Must be willing to: travel and work away from home when required, work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario.
  • Minimum 10+ years related experience.
  • Knowledge in asphalt technology is preferred.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
