Position Overview

The Drilling and Blasting Manager will be responsible for implementing the CRH Drill & Blast Program. The program focuses on ten key fundamentals: safety, performance management, blast site prep, floor control, pattern accuracy, face profiling, drill accuracy, loading plans, vibration analysis and drill/blast training.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The person will lead the consistent execution, communication and sustainability of the CRH Aggregates Drilling and Blasting Program within Pennsy Supply, to include:

  • Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations. Be familiar with and follow CRH Life Saving Rules
  • Effectively communicate with others
  • Drive performance management through creation, training and adoption of CRH Drilling & Blasting Program
  • Conduct trainings (field & classroom) for the Aggregate Managers. 
  • Conduct local company assessments of aggregates teams and drilling & blasting vendors to ensure we are on track to meet the goals of the Drilling & Blasting Program
  • Perform the field work and blast design utilizing, GPS, Drone, Blastmetrix software, borehole tracking and other tools to enhance the drill/blast optimization.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the Area Managers, measuring, monitoring and reporting on Drilling & Blasting performance metrics.
  • Manage the drill performance of internal and external drillers through management of the drill supervisor
  • Identifying areas for improving consistency and standardization across the companies.
  • Collaborate with the Area Managers and drill supervisor for Drilling & Blasting contracts for price savings opportunities.
  • Work with the drill supervisor to ensure drilling accuracy and adherence to the fundamentals.
  • Assist Operations Support team on projects as assigned including but not limited to mine planning, inventory flights, capex projects

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

         Required

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum 2 years of mining experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. 
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • FAA certified remote pilot.

 

         Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.E.) from four-year college or university, Mining Engineering preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience with drilling and blasting.
  • Working knowledge of various blasting design & monitoring tools such as 3-D Laser profiling, 3-D photogrammetry, bore tracking, GPS and seismographs.
  • Possess a current blasting license within North America.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities.
