Position Overview:

The Project Engineer will perform the primary responsibilities of assisting in Project Management functions and assist in project delivery. The Project Engineer will also support the operation team, and contract administration team.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job
  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc
  • Engage in advancing safety initiatives and safety culture across organization and within construction team
  • Assist with project submittals and support additional PennDOT, Municipal, Commercial projects
  • Support Project Managers with determining project needs and placing orders for the required materials
  • Responsible for understanding project plans and answering field personnel questions.
  • Help the Construction Coordinator create project and labor schedules
  • Assist the Construction Area Managers with project set up and delivery
  • Communicate with Forepersons and field employees on required project details and help direct work and various assignments
  • Accompany Project Managers to client meetings and assist with documenting project details
  • Assist the Construction team in the bidding process
  • Attend bid openings and document results
  • Enter bid items and set up projects into Bidding Software
  • Ensure projects are imported into Accounting System
  • Support in performance management initiatives
  • Supports the team in achieving results even under tough circumstances
  • Supports the team in challenging the status quo and coming up with innovative solutions while building excitement in others to explore creative options
  • Stays alert for developmental assignments both inside and outside the team in order to support a high performing team environment

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Project Management or equivalent experience


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must have a positive attitude and collaborate well in a team environment
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • High level of responsiveness to internal and external customers
  • Must be able to drive results, ability to take on new challenges with the sense of urgency
  • Manages ambiguity, ability to operate effectively under unclear or risky situations
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information in order to efficiently solve the problem
  • Ability to step up to address difficult issues and have difficult conversations


General Requirements 

  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check
  • Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
  • Hours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessary
