Position Overview:

This position is responsible for the effective leadership of the Purchasing function by interacting with all lines of business, as well as CRH divisional and national teams, to develop and execute the purchasing strategy for Pennsy Supply while aligning to CRH category management guidelines. The role is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the purchasing team.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Develop, refine and execute strategy of Pennsy Supply while aligning to CRH category management guidelines
  • Identify key categories (commodities), monitor the industry, identify and monitor key price indices for the commodity, drive and execute cost improvement projects including energy hedging
  • Issue RFQ, quotation analysis, negotiation, contract award for competitive sourcing
  • Manage existing contracts, dispute resolution, changes, renewal, default, etc.
  • Negotiate favorable payment terms and work closely with AP Shared Services to ensure on time supplier payments
  • Identify new suppliers; proactively monitor their insurance, health, performance, significant events, and the relationship; supplier scorecards  
  • Provide forecasts and analysis required for financial, capital, and strategic planning and budgeting
  • Foster a culture of moving forward in a change environment and continuously assuring buy-in and ownership at all levels
  • Maintaining overall program tracking for impact
  • Visit other locations for benchmarking and training
  • Streamline all procurement reporting processes

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant
  • Experience working with databases / data warehouse applications, ERP systems and/or Microsoft Office applications required
  • Experience with procurement tools, processes and systems required

General Requirements:

  • Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
  • Hours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessary
  • Travel may be required
