Your Position Overview

As the Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading, supporting, and managing aspects of our EHS programs, processes, and safety culture. The position will provide administrative, field, and technical support to the EHS team and all the lines of business: Aggregates, Asphalt, Construction, Equipment, Ready-mix Concreate, and Transportations.

 

Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assist in maintaining a high level of EHS compliance and awareness at company fixed locations (asphalt plants, construction sites, offices, shops, ready-mix plants, and quarry locations) through audits, site visits, training, and documentation of deficiencies.
  • Manage OSHA, MSHA, and CRH Recordkeeping requirements and reporting.
  • Lead and participate on site safety teams and event learning teams.
  • Provide training, technical support and compliance guidance to supervisors and employees.
  • Manage Certificate of Insurance process as requested by customers and project owners.
  • Serve as a system user and subject matter expert to EHS applications and IT systems.
  • Lead and support aspects of the EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a “need to know” basis.
  • Assist in other duties as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in safety sciences, safety management, EHS applied sciences, or related health and safety degree, or a Bachelor of Science degree with health and safety work experience, or an equivalent of education and experience.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with others.
  • Strong presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
  • Solid values and high standards of ethics, integrity, and trust

 

General Requirements 

  • Mobility to attend various meetings, sites, and events at offsite locations with some overnight stays required.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Ability to pass a drug/alcohol screening and background check.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and a good driving record.

 

Preferred Competencies

  • OSHA 1904, OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926 and MSHA regulation knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working with databases and/or EHS applications.
