This position is responsible for leading and supporting the outside sales department and ensuring the customers satisfaction at all times. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


  • Responsible for own personal safety always as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow CRH’s 14 Fundamentals for Fatality Elimination. 
  • Assist in the preparation of the company’s marketing plan and is responsible for implementing and supervising its development in the marketplace. This includes both a short-term business plan and a long-term strategic business plan for the various areas of responsibility.  
  • Meet with assigned customers and quote, build relationships, create value, and be a liaison between the customer and our operations. 
  • Develop and/or enhance industry and product knowledge within all lines of business. 
  • Continuously support and mentor team members through one to one meetings and other activities on a regular basis to discuss strategies, issues, and resolve problems. 
  • Foster an environment for employees that are centered on the team and the role each employee plays on the team in meeting their job expectations.  
  • Create an individual development plan for themselves with guidance from sales managers. The plan should highlight expectations of their position, areas of concentration, and should be reviewed on a quarterly basis. 
  • Define our customers’ needs and create specific measures within each department that relates directly to a satisfied customer. 
  • Perform market segmentation activities so that each department is aware of our core customers and how to meet and exceed specific customer expectations 
  • Participate in regular department-wide meetings to discuss issues and resolve problems. Provides support to all LOB sales efforts following up assuring edits, quotes are completed while working toward the common goal of servicing the customer's needs. 
  • Visit all operating plants (all lines of business) and personnel on a monthly basis. Work to ensure that everyone in the field understands our direction and strategy. Help to create “buy-in” from all stakeholders so that all work towards the same common goal. 
  • Have regular conversations with the company Aggregate Sales Manager updating sales activities (significant jobs, etc.) and any other Customer Support Issues. 
  • Know and understand the financial data for all lines of business (ready mix, hot mix asphalt, and aggregates) Produce information on a regular basis as requested by your manager and other members of the executive management team. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of all software (Salesforce, Quote to Cash, Viewpoint, Command, etc.) used by the various areas of responsibility and be able to produce measureable data using the reports generated by the software systems. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Other requirements 


  • Current Driver’s License and reliable source of transportation. 
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public at all times. 
  • Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. Safety Manual. 
  • Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook. 
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned.

  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public 


Education and/or Experience  


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must have at least 2 years related experience in customer service and sales preferred.  


Language Skills 


Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives, and customers. Must have excellent phone etiquette, speaking voice and professional appearance 


Mathematical Skills 


Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 


Reasoning Ability    


Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form. Able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze, and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations. 




Ability to handle stressful situations when dealing with customer demand, supervision of staff and scheduling.
