Job Description:

 

This position is responsible for polishing glass surfaces and edges might include, sandblasting, and coating glass surfaces, cutting, melting and forming glass, connecting glass pieces together into structures or maintaining and installing glass products.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Identifies work orders to be done and prioritized for the day.
  • Ensures all sizes, thickness, shapes and designs are correct to avoid any discrepancies or damages on the glass.
  • Polishes or buffs the glass surface, seams and work with the edges of the glass to confer with the job order.
  • Fits and smooth successive layers of materials as necessary to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets and voids following directions and instructions.
  • Assembles all glass produced based on specification.
  • Monitors other equipment use for fabrication if they are working properly, if not notify the supervisor for immediate action.
  • Reports job constraints such as: errors caused by workmanship, defects in parts, materials, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc., in accordance with company’s procedures.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Will perform any other job or task as assigned.

 

Basic Skills/Qualifications:

Ability to read pressure gauges and adjust controls accordingly                 must have a creative mind

Perform simple mathematical calculations                                                      Ability to read drawings

Must able to lift up to 75 lbs or more and carry glass.                                   Ability to read sales orders

Specific vision abilities (distance, peripheral, close and depth perception)           Ability to read a tape measure

 

Preferences:

High School Diploma or GED

 

Experience Required:

3 – 4 years’ experience working in Fabrication or Warehouse Production
