Position Overview
This is a skilled position where the employee will lead and supervise all aspects of the Ready-Mix Concrete Quality Control. The successful candidate is responsible for implementing a safety-based performance culture, providing supervision, training and support to develop synergies and create teamwork between production operations, delivery professionals, dispatch, maintenance, sales personnel and independent labs as well as state personnel. This position will report to the Quality Control Manager.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Implement Zero Harm Safety Culture of all personnel working within the business unit.
- Safety and environmental stewardship of sites in the business unit.
- Personnel recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and retention.
- Development of Ready-Mix Concrete mix designs and specialty designs.
- Successful in the ability to optimize mix designs.
- Review test data in real time and work with business unit to correct any deficiencies.
- Work cooperatively with other area management to accomplish area goals.
- Continuously improve product quality to increase sales and customer relations.
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting specifications and plans.
- Proficient in CommandQC and StonemontQC.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and seven years related experience and/or training; holds current certification in ACI Strength and Field.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write clearly and effectively. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, management, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, common fractions, and decimals.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds as well as frequently move a full wheelbarrow in a lab environment as well as on project sites. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Consistently working with and around concrete which can cause burns if proper PPE is not utilized.
