Job Summary

 

Oldcastle Infrastructure is seeking an Estimating Intern to support our estimating team during the summer term. This internship provides hands-on experience in how infrastructure and construction projects are reviewed, scoped, and prepared for bid while working closely with experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

 

What You Will Learn

 

  • How to review plan sets, identify project scope, and support the preparation of accurate cost estimates.
  • How estimating teams request, evaluate, and track vendor pricing using tools such as Smartsheet.
  • How cross-functional collaboration, organization, and attention to detail contribute to successful project delivery.

 

This position is expected to start in-person around May 2026 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e., May 2026 through August 2026). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

 

Job Location

 

  • This is an onsite position located in Jacksonville, FL.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assist the Estimating Manager and estimating team with multiple projects concurrently to support timely bid preparation.
  • Review and update Smartsheet records, ensuring project names and details accurately align with plan sets.
  • Check estimating records to determine whether jobs were previously quoted.
  • Review construction plans to identify and highlight relevant structures and scope elements.
  • Prepare and distribute requests for vendor quotes, follow up as needed, and assist with reviewing vendor pricing to ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.
  • Support the estimating team during hand-off meetings by helping ensure required information and documentation are complete, scope is clearly defined, and estimate values are confirmed.
  • Provide general administrative and project support, including miscellaneous tasks as needed to support the team’s daily workflow. 

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Sophomore through Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Concrete Industry Management (Preferred), Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or another related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review documents and data accurately.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including comfort with spreadsheets, document management, and standard office software.
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions when clarification is needed, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated reliability, a positive attitude, and a strong willingness to learn.

 

Compensation

 

  • The hourly pay rate is $25/hr.
