The Utility Leadman position is an intermediate-level position reporting to the crew Foreman. The Utility Leadman communicates events, conditions, and issues as they arise while assisting with the direction and oversight of crew members.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

40% Operations

  • Digging and grading trenches to place pipe in.
  • Ability to set up pipe laser.
  • Laying water, sewer, and drainage pipe to line and grade.
  • Cut, fit and seal various types of pipe.
  • Interprets production targets and schedules

     

25% Management  

  • Assist the Foreman with daily Task Analysis Review (TAR) meeting with the crew before the start of the shift.
  • Lead crew to complete tasks without delay in the absence of the Foreman.
  • Achieving or exceeding all productivity and profitability goals.
  • Report to career development and leadman training.

 

10% Compliance

  • Understanding and complying with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Using Company tools and equipment in accordance with established TPR practices.

 

10% Customer Service

  • Communicating with owner representatives.
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times on the job.

 

10% Safety  

  • Ensure the safety of crew and public; comply with all safety initiatives, protocols, and procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and safe Jobsite; and good housekeeping procedures

 

5%  Other duties as assigned

 

Required Experience

One (1) year of pipelaying experience in a heavy civil construction environment.

--Ability to work under pressure

--Interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

 

Basic

--Written and oral communication skills

--Working knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer word processing and database software applications

 

Preferred Experience

Two (2) years of pipelaying experience in a heavy civil construction environment.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

--Experience with B2W
