SUMMARY

Purchases, stores and issues spare parts for mobile or industrial equipment by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

 

Proficient in computer and organizational skills

Reads shop manuals to ascertain type and specification of part

Contacts vendors and issues purchase orders for parts and services

Compares invoices against requisitions to verify quality and quantity of merchandise received

Stores purchased parts in storeroom bins and issues parts to employees upon request

Initiates, records repair time expended by mechanics and closes work orders

Requisitions parts from central parts department

Performs basic warehouse housekeeping tasks

Maintains proper inventory control processes

Enters fuel tickets 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to operate fork trucks

Must have computer skills either from formal education or prior experience.

Ability to communicate with vendors, service providers and all levels of employees.

Must be self-motivated, flexible and eager to learn.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE  SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

The employee must wear personal protective equipment of steel toed shoes/boots, safety glasses, hard hat and gloves if applicable.
