Tack Truck Driver-Lunenburg, MA

 

Position Overview

This is a highly skilled position involving the safety, control and operation of tack or distributer truck with capacity of 3,000 gallons to transport emulsion to and from destination.  This position requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

 

You will report directly to the Paving Operations Manager.  Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do.  All P.J. Keating Company to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes.  You will establish key internal relationships to help ensure safety continues to be embedded in the culture of our Company. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The criteria for evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Drive truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assist crew with other tasks when not operating distribution truck.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor on the job, as well as directing paving trucks to job site.
  • Responsible for loading truck for emulsion tank.
  • Responsible for applying emulsion to road surface prior to paving.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the PJK safety manuals.
  • Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for daily pre-trip inspection of truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Individual must possess a CDL A License with tank and hazmat endorsement.

 

Qualifications

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of heavy highway paving experience.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to assigned job site in uniform and ready to begin work at designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental Health and Safety Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
