Position Overview

Individual performs a wide variety of accounting responsibilities within the Construction Department including financial analysis and data entry.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Project reconciliations ensuring appropriate revenue recognition.
  • Work closely with project managers and superintendents to reconcile daily quantities reported to accounting system.
  • Subcontractor payments and reconciliations to reported quantities.
  • Review daily financial reports, question and interact with PMs.
  • Weekly financial trend review meetings with area managers.
  • Cross train with contract administrators.
  • Create POs.
  • Month end entries and reconciliations.
  • Other duties as requested.
  • Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Must comply with company safety engagement policies.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • 1-3 years of financial experience preferred. 

 

Work Requirements

  • Ability to communicate sufficiently to be able to convey and exchange ideas, and to give and receive detailed verbal instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to recognize, self-diagnose, and solve problems.
  • Self-starter.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Individual must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient with Windows, Microsoft Excel and Word
