Job Description


  • The Financial performance Manager will report to the Construction Manager and is responsible for the management of systems and development, execution and supervision of the Financial Control Process of all major projects including work for the MADOT, RIDOT and other public and private entities.
  • This role will include managing a daily jobs cost process, revenue and cost reconciliation to assure payment of all items, project financial forecasting, dealing with owner’s reps, engineers and managers to assure timely payments of all items and the processing and management of all change orders, extra work orders and other items to assure the maximum return on all projects.
  • This position will require the development of relationships with our key customers and the ability to understand contracts and specifications and assure correct and timely estimates are forthcoming on all projects.


Essential Functions


  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of all cost control, cost reporting and underlying procedures
  • Ensure that proper systems are developed, maintained and employed that provides project and operational management the required tools to manage multiple projects.
  • Responsible for the development of the cost and work breakdown structures that convert the estimating data into a work breakdown structure, cost and revenue control, forecasting, reporting, scheduling / resource planning systems, change management and basis of quantity management.
  • Assists in the development of project-specific tools to forecast quantities, hours, costs, as well as track changes from conceptual estimates through the execution of the project.
  • Assists in the project set-up and close-out work processes to ensure adherence to Company standards and contractual requirements.
  • Participates in project-level revenue recognition exercises, ensuring practices are aligned with management expectations.
  • Participates in the preparation of monthly and quarterly project reviews and forecasting.
  • Interfaces with Project Management to understand, develop and provide required project reporting.
  • Oversees the quantity management consolidation and reporting process with Superintendents/Project Engineers and other personnel for progressing, estimating, monitoring and reporting quantity units and expected revenue and margins.
  • Provide analysis and reporting.
  • Performs field audits, confirming project progress, sequencing, quantity installation, as well as project variances.
  • Interfaces with interdepartmental and home office to define site project reporting structure and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure payments are received in a timely manner and assist sub-contractors on projects as needed.
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct
  • Key Performance Indicators / KPIs ~ tracking and reporting, developing, analyzing key metrics and project performance data
  • Change Management ~ tracking and analyzing project changes to budget and scope, facilitating the change management process
  • Subcontractor Change Management ~ reviewing subcontractor changes and assessing impact to overall budget and forecast
  • Quantity surveying and tracking ~ experience in the field tracking and validating quantities as identified in the estimate
  • Risk Analysis ~ assessing and evaluating project risk at the funding stage and throughout project execution, compiling data and risk analyses
  • Evaluates and monitors labor and cost requirements comparing to budgets and performs variance analysis and reporting forecasts project and program progress trends and estimates at complete for time and cost
  • Performs regular project reviews and monitors the job cost report against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinates with Division Claims/Contract Manager in tracking and monitoring change order and claims preparation and resolution
  • Manages tracking of over/under billing to monitor and control project cash flow.
  • Assists with resource and cost loading to the schedule, including labor projections, equipment and material projections, and productivity trend reporting to accurately forecast project costs and project financial outcome.
  • Assists project close out procedures by validating final revenue prior to final bill submission.
  • Able to identify cost reduction strategies in schedule, quantities or contract specifications that align with project budget and design specification requirements.
  • Manages and tracks all project documents, schedules for various engineering activities, contact agreements, invoicing, payments, etc.




  • 8+ years’ experience in construction engineering, project management or project controls required.
  • Ability to interpret contract terms, conditions and exhibits as applicable to project requirements.
  • Varying work schedule and occasional overtime may be required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or related field preferred.
  • Experience with complex scheduling and cost control processes required.
  • Knowledge of construction contract agreements and change order processes required.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting, required.
  • Proven leadership and influential skills. Able to effectively work and communicate with all levels of the company.
