Position Overview:

 

The Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for effective operations and maintenance of the Plant during their respective shift.  This will include execution of proactive and reactive maintenance. Additionally, they will be responsible for measuring and improving key metrics which includes safety, productivity, resources, and labor.  This position reports directly to the Quarry Manager.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Implements a “Leading with Safety” culture. Exceeds regulatory and company compliance.
  • Train new crew members.
  • Evaluates all equipment and completes maintenance requisitions.
  • Organize and plan the purchase of critical parts and preventative maintenance parts.
  • Review the work to be performed and ensure risk and method statements are completed.
  • Supervises and coordinates crew activities, reviews preventative maintenance schedules and estimates work requirements for completion of reactive repairs within time constraints.
  • Supervise quarry employees and operations, including, ascertaining progress in meeting time schedules to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and crew performance.
  • Input maintenance activities in PEAK (liner changes, belt installation, major component repairs, oil changes, etc.)
  • Participates in special projects or tasks as assigned.
  • Ensures all materials are produced in spec.
  • Supervise employees on night shift. This includes safety, work schedule and work performance. Will also cover for day shift manager for vacations etc.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment in the entire facility.
  • Hosts weekly tailgate safety meetings for team.
  • Consult with quarry manager and forepersons from day shift. Will also ensure clear handover back to day shift.
  • Follow up and communicates schedule to all resources: maintenance, production, and contractors.
  • Maintains and reports accurate metrics on maintenance performance.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Operational/Maintenance background preferred with Supervisory experience.
  • Aggregate operations fleet optimization experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Can manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
  • Experience working closely with Assistant Plant Manager, Engineering Personnel, Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors and Maintenance Leads.
  • Ensure compliance with union contracts.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MSHA regulations.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to diplomatically handle challenging situations.
  • Working knowledge of aggregate production equipment and processes
  • Analytical abilities and comfort with using data and objective information for making decisions
  • Project team experience
  • Union environments
  • Capability and desire to become a quarry manager in the future
