Overview

 

The Product Development Specialist will be part of a multi-disciplined R&D team and will be the subject matter expert for enhancing our architectural building product lines, utilizing color enhancing, coatings, and surface finishes.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • It will be expected that you apply your knowledge to evaluate new technologies, determine feasibility with our manufacturing process, prepare and coordinate performance test plans, and communicate results to support our innovation pipeline for new products.

  • Maintain ongoing projects/programs specific to color enhancement by identifying key operational performance improvements, establishing best practice techniques, operational trouble shooting, and maintaining a technological watch on pigments and spray equipment.

  • Other duties will include advising on proper selection of materials and processes to ensure attainment of design objectives, participate in design reviews for engineering drawings, and perform and evaluate risk analyses on existing or new manufacturing methods, as well as participating in non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes.

  • Interface with supplier vendor base technical issues concerning raw materials, part fabrication, and new materials / processes and develop and implement research / qualification plans including process development and evaluation of new materials for production use.

  • Execute lab trials and testing of new solutions, lead special product demonstrations, samples and mock-up preparation, materials sampling of aggregates, concrete, testing & data logging.

  • Planning and supporting the deployment and implementation process, conduct site and factory visits during the implementation of new solutions.  Provide expert customer support to both internal & external customers including troubleshooting activities, field sales support and quality incident investigation and resolution with sales and QC teams.  

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred or manufacturing related experience and/or training experience

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Proven experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification efforts of components or materials

  • Experience working with application of primers, topcoats, and other finishes, use of polymers on various substrates, and application of adhesives to components

  • Experience/knowledge in construction materials (concrete and aggregates) industry

  • Must be willing to travel up to 30%, including Canada

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
