Position Overview


The Mississauga Plant employs approximately 200 people representing a wide range of skills.  Employees, both past and present, have played an integral role in the success of the plant. CRH Canada provides its employees with a work environment where health and safety are a priority, as well as actively developing people and fostering teamwork.
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible to coordinate and supervise yard/terminal or production Shift depending on the need and to ensure each individual works in a safe and efficient manner to progress on the assigned tasks. 
The work schedule will vary according to the need so the applicant should have the ability to work nights or weekends.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

 

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing all safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring environmental and quality guidelines are followed according to Mississauga Plant Procedures 
  • Assign tasks to the operators at the beginning of the shift.
  • Review and ensure that all safety standards are met.
  • Review and ensure that operators have completed their JSR (risk assessments) prior to commencing work.
  • Review and ensure that operators have completed their walk-by inspections by the end of their shift.
  • In the event of an incident (safety or environment), ensure that the incident report is initiated in a timely manner.
  • Organizes payroll information for all relevant employees.
  • Responsible for organizing vacation times and maintaining vacation, overtime, and coverage schedules for reporting employees.
  • Maintains the inventory of products / raw materials. 
  • Enter Notifications in SAP. 

 

Qualifications


Education/Experience

  • College Diploma favored. Experience working within a Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Leadership skills, having managed an entire team at one time.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Green book knowledge (Ontario OH&S act and regulation).
  • Joint health and safety committee training.
  • Lock out tag out, working at heights and confined space training preferred.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Conflict resolution skills. 
  • Ability to give clear instructions with appropriate follow-up.
  • Organizational skills, having to maintain smooth operation of all Production shift activities and projects.
  • Physical fitness is required for effortless mobility throughout the entire plant
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001guidelines. 
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Strong planning / follow up skills
  • Ability to anticipate
  • Specific knowledge regarding the overall functioning of a cement plant
  • Proficient computer skills, including email and applications such as SAP and Excel
  • Root-Cause Analysis Skills.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills.
