Lowboy Equipment Transportation Professional

Position Overview

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operating of Lowboy or Tilt Deck Trailers to Transport Heavy Equipment to and from job sites such as but not limited to the following: excavators, loaders, scrapers, rollers, blades, asphalt pavers, and crushing equipment.

Equipment will be hauled on a tilt deck or low boy trailer.  Drivers may also deliver all types of aggregates, asphalt, and other materials both residential and commercial by operating Bellies, Side or End Dumps.

 

Key Responsibilities (essential Duties and Functions)

  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills to guarantee safe loading and unloading of equipment on and off the trailer.
  • Must possess a valid CDL and be able to operate a 13 speed manual transmission.
  • Must keep time and material records.
  • Must follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability for maneuvering in tight areas.
  • Connect and disconnect Jeep Trailers and Boosters.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, License, Registrations

  • Must possess a valid state Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL). 
  • Doubles and Triples, Tankers, Hazmat endorsements are highly preferred, but not required. 
  • Must possess a valid medical card as per DOT standard.

Work Requirements

  • Two years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Incident free driving record preferred
  • May be subject to drug and alcohol, medical exams, and physical agility testing
  • Basic Math and Computer Skills

Physical Requirements

  • GRIP – with at least 75 lbs. of force.
  • CLIMBING – in, around, and on equipment.
  • HEAVY LIFTING – of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs.  from floor to waist.
  • AWKWARD POSITIONS – getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
  • FLEXIBILITY – awkward reaches.
  • BALANCE – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
  • VISION – 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
  • HEARING – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers.
