Position Overview
This is an internal opportunity to become a Mentor for our Transportation drivers. This position will only be available for current full time Transportation drivers. We are looking for a goal oriented and proactive individual who wants to help focus on driver development. This individual will need to be self-motivated, excellent communicator, committed to upholding CRH values, policies & procedures, have a positive attitude and be patient & understanding with all drivers. A successful candidate will be performance driven and committed to making the Mentor program successful as well as being a positive contributor for the Transportation department.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Mentors need to meet with each person on their team weekly. This can be done in a group or individually and discuss concerns the mentee has, safety concerns or messages, information the company is wanting distributed to all employees.
- Mentors need to coach and train the members of their teams using their own personal experience and pass this information to their teams.
- Mentors need to ride with each member of their team each quarter and help teach them on things see can be done differently and give positive feedback if they are doing things right, mentors are teachers, coaches.
- Make sure their team members are doing track forms and Tyfoom every week and help those who might be struggling.
- Will do a new hire meet and greet and show them where things are located, phone numbers of the trucking department personnel.
- Share ideas on how to improve the department
- Mentors to update the transportation team monthly on their teams.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Transportation Department.
- IMC Safety culture Ambassador.

Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, License, Registrations
- Must possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A with appropriate endorsements.
- Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard.
Work Requirements

- Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
- Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
- Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
- May be subject drug and alcohol, medical exams and physical agilities testing.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to communicate using two-way radio.
- Basic math
- Basic computer skills preferred
