Summary

 

This is a skilled position requiring the individual to manage a variety of functions related to the Transportation/Logistic operations at Idaho Materials & Construction. This is a Part-Time position with the possibility of a Full-Time position. The individual must have a strong understanding of construction, paving and material distribution business as they relate to transportation. The Shipper will be responsible for maintaining efficient logistic operations and assisting in daily order building and schedule for the following day. This position will work closely with the Dispatcher daily and fulfill duties as needed.

 

This position will also serve as a Team Safety lead and help train all Transportation department employees on a variety of processes and procedures such as but not limited to; pre/post trip inspections, air break safety check, winterizing procedures, lock out – tag out, onboarding, new hire training and smith systems. The Team Safety Lead would also help man the spray down rack for large paving jobs and serve as job field lead, so project run efficiently and safely.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Manage Same Day Orders for various project and operations.
  • Must be customer service oriented, both internally and externally
  • Check and review all orders assigned before they are shipped.
  • Identify Logistic Opportunities
  • Help Dispatcher coordinate deliveries with company truck drivers and external trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of materials to customers.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in stressful conditions.
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours.
  • Reliable attendance is essential to performance in this role
  • Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

 Requirements/Education/Experience
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience in related function
  • Construction/Transportation Related Experience preferred
  • Must be able to effectively multitask, mathematical and communication skills
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

 

 Physical Environment
 

  • May require additional lifting of up to 25lbs
  • Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling
  • Walking and standing for long periods of time.
