Summary:
The Plant Procurement Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required for plant operations, spare parts inventory, and small to medium Capital Projects. This role ensures timely delivery and completion of purchase requirements at competitive prices while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards. The Buyer works closely with plant operations, maintenance, and corporate procurement teams to support production continuity and cost optimization of low to medium value, high turnover and spend goods and services.
What you'll be contributing:

Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines

Compare and evaluate vendors and approaches to source and purchase spare parts, consumables, maintenance and facilities services. Apply critical thinking and sound decision making to determine the best courses of action for the business, while ensuring Plant procurement needs are met.

Interpret and implement procurement policies and practices to carry out assignments efficiently and effectively.

Issue purchase orders and manage order confirmations, delivery schedules, and invoice reconciliation.

Ensure that Purchases are appropriately authorized by required personnel before committing spend to suppliers.

Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.

Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional suppliers.

Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.

Identify cost-saving opportunities through competitive sourcing and one-off supplier negotiations.

Collaborate with corporate procurement to leverage volume discounts and contracts by ensuring local implementation of regional and global agreements.

Work with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to understand procurement needs.

Support inventory management and ensure critical spares are ordered and delivered timely when needed.

Ensure adherence to company procurement policies and procedures. Provides support and training for the Accounts Payable clerk where applicable.

Identifies and mitigates risks in the procurement process, such as supply chain disruptions or changes in market conditions.

Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
-
Minimum of Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or Related Field
-
Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Strong negotiation, communicaiton and analytical skills
-
General understanding of procurement best practices, contract management and supplier evaluation
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit, with superior expertise in Excel, Outlook and Word
-
Drive for operational excellence and continuous Improvement.

Experience with indirect procurement of spare parts, equipment, facilities, and maintenance services.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.

Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.

Ability to work from general policies and objectives, plus navigate ambiguity and reach sound judgements.
