Summary

 

Tilcon Connecticut Inc. is seeking a Sales Representative in our Concrete division. This Individual will take a role in our sales and marketing of all Tilcon Connecticut products and services, with a primary focus on ready mix concrete. Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do.  All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes.  You will establish key internal relationships to help ensure safety continues to be embedded in the culture of our Company. 

 

Primary responsibilities

 

Applicant must be a team player willing to help find solutions, detail oriented, able to read and interpret material specifications, able to work in a physical and fast-paced manufacturing / construction environment and comply with all Tilcon Connecticut safety requirements.

 

Job Duties:

  • Comprehensive sales and marketing of all Tilcon Connecticut products and services, with a primary focus on ready mix concrete.  Customer base includes residential customers, municipalities, commercial businesses and various agencies within the State of Connecticut.
  • Follow up on all sales/quotes in a timely basis.
  • Keep fully abreast of the current marketing conditions and the activities of competitors.
  • Develop and strengthen relations with our customer base.
  • Strive to provide "world class customer service" to all clients.

Estimating:

  • Derive item quantities from plans and review product specifications.
  • Possess a working knowledge of concrete operations

Administrative:

  • Prepare required paperwork, including quotes, credit approvals, billing reports, sales reports/information requests etc. accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Review/Update monthly backlogs and enter into our forecasting models on a monthly basis.
  • Continuously review aging and address delinquent customers in coordination with our Credit Department.
  • Consistently visit our job sites and develop strategies to address operational challenges, delivery issues, mix problems 

 

Qualifications

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

 

Education/Experience

 

  • 4 year degree or equivalent work experience.
  • General understanding of business fundamentals                                           
  • Must have good written, verbal, and organizational skills.   
  • Math Competency is required.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry a plus (not required).
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office, Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style.
  • Ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback.
  • Ability to act in a professional manner with customers and represent Tilcon in a character that inspires trust.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required

 

Skills/Abilities

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as job specifications, bid documents, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Personal protective equipment

 

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies.  Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position:  Hardhat, safety glasses, face shield, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, respirator, air monitor, reflective safety vest, and hearing protection.
