POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Operates a smaller milling machine with conveyor. Manipulates hand or foot levers to control the movements of the milling machine for removal of bituminous concrete such as parking lots, streets, etc. Job duties include: trimming around street structures, such as, catch basins and man holes.  May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment and ensuring the machine is cleaned after every shift.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Must partner with crew members to remove bituminous concrete utilizing the milling machine.
  2. Ability to operate a milling machine (under 24” drum)
  3. Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time.
  4. Job requires the following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, driving, vibration, and twisting.
  5. Excellent Communication skills with crew members to ensure the job is completed.
  6. Ability to withstand common vibratory motions associates with operation of equipment and occasionally rough terrain.
  7. Various drum maintenance and changing of teeth.
  8. Cleaning of machine after every shift.
  9. Proper communication with crew members in order to complete the job in a timely fashion.
  10. Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.
  11. Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes and time changes in shift.
  12. Must pass drug test and background check.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. High school diploma
  2. Previous Milling experience preferred

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

 

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies.  Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position:  Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high visibility clothing for any work in the field.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus, and operate various pieces of equipment.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
