Summary

 

This is a skilled position that will develop and administer the credit and collection program for Lyman-Richey. Manages a credit and collection staff while reporting to the company Controller. Interacts with sales to ensure the proper documents are executed before extending credit along with maintaining reasonable credit limits and DSO’s.  Designs and implements processes to improve cashflow and reduce receivables. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area and at least 5 years of experience in the field. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Oversees investigation of credit risk in customers and monitors the collection of amounts due to the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assigns workers responsibility for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications.
  • Establishes credit limitations on customer accounts and handles special credit arrangements i.e. litigation and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Establishes and updates customers' credit activities.
  • Reviews accounts receivable reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with others, including credit personnel in region, to exchange information and update controls.
  • Submits delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection.
  • Assists management in the formulation of credit policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience        

                                          

  • Minimum of five (5) years related credit and collection experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills               

                                               

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, lien waivers, credit reports, and accounts receivable reports. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Reasoning Ability     

                                                     

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills         

                                                    

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; E-mail software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
