Summary

 

Manages all Dispatchers and Customer Service Representatives in the Central Dispatch Department, and oversees final schedule and truck assignments using computerized tracking and scheduling system for optimum truck utilization and efficiency.

 

Supervision Received

 

  • Works under general supervision.
  • Refers to V.P. for clarification and interpretation of organization policy as needed.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Establishes, communicates and assigns job responsibilities, goals and performance standards for employees within supervisory responsibility.
  • Provides leadership to dispatchers and promotes teamwork among the dispatchers.
  • Reviews final schedule to ensure quality service.
  • Resolves customer complaints in a timely manner and a professional attitude.
  • Collaborates with sales, quality control and operations personnel regarding general business conditions and specific customer orders.
  • Generates and reviews daily yardage reports and informs management of problems or potential problem areas.
  • In-person visits with customers and job sites as well as participates in pre-construction meetings.
  • Exercises direct supervision over dispatchers.
  • Performs other job-related responsibilities as needed. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • General knowledge of concrete and related industry practices.
  • Ability to learn the dispatching system.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment, and to react resourcefully under varying conditions.

 

Education

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent required.

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in ready-mix industry and at least 2 years management experience.
  • Dispatching and/or customer service experience also preferred.
